Hey Everyone! If you thought the Keto craze was going away, think again! The Ketogenic “diet” is as popular as ever. There are so many benefits to this lifestyle, as I have mentioned in previous articles, that more and more people are giving it a try. And, more and more celebrities are also getting on the keto bandwagon. Some may try it for the excellent weight loss potential the “diet” has, and other realize the benefits of choosing keto as a lifestyle instead of a diet. Let’s take a look at some of these celebrities and what they have to say about keto.
Kourtney’s doctor recommended the keto diet to help control the high levels of mercury and lead he found in her system. She since has found a love for cauliflower rice and protein such as chicken and fish. Another favourite is smoothies made with avocados and bananas. She calls keto “a really positive experience.”
Mark is quite well known on his own, but is also famous for being Kelly Rippa’s husband. Not a bad reason to be famous. These two celebrities have found a great way to eat together. Mark has cut out a lot of the carbs while doing keto, and Kelly takes them! If Mark has a burger, he skips the bun, and Kelly will eat it and enjoy it. That’s what I call couple love! Well done, you two!
I wish I could say it as well as Halle, but I can’t, so just let me quote her here:
“I don’t really eat pasta, anything with sugar, it’s very much meat-based,” she said. “I eat meat, I enjoy chicken and beef and a lot of vegetables.”
She adds that she includes healthy fats in her diet “all day long.”
“Avocado, oil, coconut oil and I use butter, but don’t have any sugar. So when your body gets trained to burn fats, it’s constantly on fat-burning mode—that’s the secret,” she said.
Well said, Halle Berry, and keep it up!
Just in case you thought keto was just for the movie and TV stars, here is an athlete who is experiencing success following the keto lifestyle. Due to the high fat content required, Tim Tebow is a proponent of avocados, one of the greatest sources of healthy fat there can be. He adds it to everything, as he told GQ magazine. He said, in a recent People interview, “I put them in my smoothies, guacamole, a bunch of different things. For me it’s more than just trying to stay in shape for sports, it’s a way of life, of trying to be healthy.”
Keep in mind, that this way of eating may not be for everyone, and if you are an athlete who needs to have sudden and fast movement, perhaps a linebacker or a wide receiver, or even a sprinter, then perhaps keto isn’t for you. But there are many athletes who are following this plan, and having great success.
One of these athletes feeling the benefits of keto, is Lebron James. He used it specifically to lose some weight and get back into shape, and has since moved to a modified version, where carbs are reintroduced at specific times of the day to assist in muscle growth (that is how I use the keto plan). But the results Lebron had, and the fact that he still uses a modified version of the plan, speak for themselves.
So there you have it. There are many celebrities who have realized the benefits of keto. I have only mentioned a few, and have tried to give a broad spectrum of successes from movie stars, to social media queens, to athletes. If you would like to read about some others, check out this article in Men’s Health, or this one in Muscle and Fitness.
Of course there is the other side of the story, which I will not ignore. There are many celebrities, and others, who do not like the keto lifestyle. This is the great thing about the world we live in. You are entitled to your own opinion, and you should research and read and make up your own mind about any change that you are thinking about making own your life. Check out these other opinions here on the Food Network or here on Bravo TV.
Thanks for listening, and I’ll see you in the next post.
